When we write, we compose thoughts on paper, when we read we compose meaning in our minds.”
Quote from Strategies That Work by Stephanie Harvey and Anne Goudvis
Reading, Thinking, Discussing and Writing (R-T-D-W) is stressed at Infinity High School. Reading strategies such as the Question Answer Relationships (Q.A.R.) reading comprehension strategy are explicitly taught to students. Our School library, fully wired computer Lab., and in-class libraries are equipped with multiple resources (high interest text materials, books on tape, software programs etc) to support instructional objectives. Teachers utilize the activity wizard developed by the Northwestern University Collaboratory in partnership with CPS. This lesson planning wizard allows teachers to input standards, performance descriptors etc, directly into their lesson plans.
In addition to our Computer Lab, each classroom is outfitted with 3 computers and one printer. Students use computers to edit and publish work, as well as conduct internet research.
Opportunities for creative expression are offered at Infinity. Student interest in the arts are cultivated by the provision of resources and instruction. Vocational Course Offerings Culinary Arts
Horticulture Program Plants are grown indoors during the winter and fall and transplanted outdoors in the spring and summer. Vegetable and flower gardens exist thanks to the generosity of Greencorp. Gardening advise from The Chicago Agricultural High School has also made our Horticulture Program a success. Should you require additional information about our Horticulture Program you may contact the coordinator of the program, Ms. Mufuka, during regular school hours.
